ORIGINAL BLESSING NOW

We did not begin as sinners. So sin is not original to us. Adam and Eve were born of God and breathed alive by His Spirit. By living in Adam, aka the knowledge of good and evil, we debilitate ourselves by ignoring the union with God that is now ours in Christ. Even though we still sin we are not defined as ‘sinners’ but as sons/daughters of God.
NEW IDENTITY
This is more than a new defining of our identity. We have been joined to Christ the Last Adam generically and filled with His Spirit by the incarnation personally. Unless we live ‘Realising that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20, we are living a version of dualism in the split-life mode of religion that is the knowledge of good and evil as a version of Christianity.
NO SEPARATION IN CHRIST JESUS
Danielle Shroyer observes that, “Original sin tells us there is a chasm of separation between humanity and God. And this chasm isn’t just some cosmic reality; it exists within our own nature. When you think about it that way, a bridge hardly seems sufficient. We might be able to walk across the bridge and stand next to God, but the sin nature that supposedly separates us from God is coming right along with us. If our human nature separates us from God, we need more than a bridge. We need to be disembodied, which is a weird place to end up in a faith that’s based on God becoming human.”
DUALISM/SPLIT BEING
Dualism as an inner outlook separates us from God and from ourselves. Outside of Christ, we are more than divided. We are fragmented in our being and blind in our eyes. Unless we are born again out of this into union with God in Christ, we cannot see or represent the Kingdom Jesus began. New birth is not the adoption of a new and better form of morals. It is living Christ our life instead of living religion our life.
LIVING THE CURSE
“When we claim a sin nature, we depart the green pastures and still waters of blessing for the dry desert chasm of separation. We forfeit walking with our shepherd, and walk across his back to get our salvation ticket validated instead. But Jesus doesn’t want us to walk across him. He wants us to walk with him. The gospel is not a solution to our sin problem. It’s an invitation to participate in the blessing and life of God.”
Real life is our living with the kind of union with God that the trinity have with each other, as indicated in John 17. Their nature imparted to us by the Spirit empowers us to live in original blessing – the mode of God’s life that was planned before the creation began. This Holy Communion lived.
